Autumn Color   by   Teebra Woods

Blankets of green are slowly tucked in

replaced by the quilt worn and thin

patterns placed colors collide

people picnic’s now subside

one last run

catch the sun

time floating away

few birds sing

what stories they bring

mine is the song of a new day

"Captain on a Beach"    Teebra Woods

he sat on a rock for hours watching the morning sun

an ocean stretched out all the way till tomorrow

waves would splash on the once great captain

however a swim would not his will

afraid of the sea

how can this be

but the mightiest of storms has this captain conquered

alas the least peril of journeys did take his ship and crew

so the captain swore never to return to the sea

he had been beat

yet if you look deep into his eyes

there past the gray past the fog

lay a spark

the need for the open ocean buried deep in his soul

"The Evil Seed" by Teebra Woods

Once there was a farmer

Who was quiet and mostly kept to himself

A special garden was being prepared

This was to have the worlds greatest fruits

The worlds richest vegetables

The freshest smelling followers

The most tasty corn

A fantastic secret garden

The day had finally come

When it would be time to plant the magical seeds

However

Along with the wonderful greens and colors

The farmer planted a bad seed

Just one

He ignored the warning

To see what would happen

Time when on

And all of the planets were in full bloom

In another month harvest time would arrive

Yet the one evil seed did not grow

The farmer reached into the earth to see if the seed was still there

As his hand dug into the ground

A sharp pain stung at his index finger

A quick reflex to pull his hand away

Exposed from the ground

What looked like a snake

But it would not come out of the ground

And for a minute would not let go of his finger

The green snake turned out to be the bad seed

It seemed to smile as it lapped up the blood from its tiny lips

The farmer was amazed

For the plant seemed to be almost animal like

Part plant part snake

(to be continued…)

"Door" by Teebra Woods

won't you let me in

I have stood in this rain all night

talking to you

many nights

after all this time your door

is only partially open

just enough to put my foot in

what are you waiting for

what else do you want from me

don't you think it's time

you open

your door

and let me in

"fly" by Teebra Woods

i wonder if i try

can i fly

so high that i may escape

the nightmare of this place

can i go to the land of  the free

can I see

the long lost vision or am i just fooling myself

i believe

i can take the truth so please tell me

because if you sell me

a dream

and i happen to wake up

the sight of light will cut

my already weakened strength

but i will find a way to fly on

try to write another song

of future days to come

because i will rise above these clouds

of doubt

i have run the longest race

as rain slaps my face

and i can carry on as long as time rules

and i have tasted bitter tears

for many of my years

and sat in persecution with the fools

"art" by Teebra Woods

your guns

knives

your weapons

have power

but

art

love

beauty

will find a way

poetry will never die

as dawn sings    by Teebra Woods

riding on wings of dreams

galloping through towers so tall

bitter sweet blend of themes

unaware that I may even fall

high on the crest for tomorrow’s sake

my grin kept ready

climb or jump into actions take

unseen courage ‘m steady

renew my mind the knowledge dance

the rhythm slides to sway

my smile set for this romance

as dawn sings on the day

"bench" by Teebra Woods

an old worn park bench has many a story to tell

of day light feedings meetings

and I'm sure at one time the chime of a bell

"Hardly Poetic" by Teebra Woods

Hardly   poetic   was   finally   said

holding   up   the   paper   marked   all   in red

this   word   is   misspelled   this   one   does   not   rhyme

too   many   syllables   in   line  4   and  5   is   out   of  time

you    have   failed   now   please   put    your   pen   away

learn   a   +   b   =   c   and   do   it   my    way

"A Door From the Construction Zone"

by Teebra Woods

these days will never return

open closed doors ever discern

a path for choice

the selection of singing voice

predetermine which play and act

with such a spotlight walk shadow tact

train thyself to speak with the rats

they are of close relations to the bats

who see not with eyes but listen to the hot night

reveal unknowing plans held so tight

the greatest of locks have at least one key

therefore open the door to set us all free

this is a job for the king know true

that only one will complete such a task and that my friend is you

"excuse me" by Teebra Woods

and so we meet again

we really got to stop meeting like this

I thought we had a deal

I would leave you alone

and you were gonna leave me alone

but some how

we keep meeting

and at such strange times

what are you trying to do to me

I am not mad

I don't hate you

but

we are no good for each other

so why don't you go find your friends

I'm sure they are near by
